From Kennieth, your lovely dear SDO....

5 January 2009, Team Temasek Day - Wear Red & Pledge your Support!

The Temasek Polytechnic Sports Club (TPSC), supported by SAA, will be organizing a TP-wide event, Team Temasek Day, on 5 January 2009, which coincides with the start of the Inter-Varsity/Polytechnic Games (IVP). This event aims to create a strong sense of institutional pride, as well as instil a vibrant TP spirit among staff and students alike. We are reaching out to all students, and seek your support in helping to publicise the event to the various Arts, Diploma, Sports and other interest groups under your charge.

The Team Temasek identity was originally created to build a team identity, foster institutional pride, and promote a sporting culture among the sports teams in TP.  However, we are expanding the identity to include all TP students, especially those not engaged in competitive sports, so that they can be an integral part of the dynamic and vibrant family that we call Team Temasek.

Team Temasek Day will be an excellent platform through which the Team Temasek identity is celebrated and enhanced.  As a show our TP spirit and Team Temasek identity, we are encouraging all students to don a red shirt/t-shirt on Team Temasek Day, 5 January 2009. For those without red shirts, limited numbers of red Team Temasek t-shirts will be on sale at the Plaza on a first-come-first-served basis.  There will also be a large banner at the Plaza where students can pledge their support for Team Temasek with their signatures.

I seek your help to encourage your students to don a red shirt/t-shirt on Team Temasek Day, and also to pledge their support on the Team Temasek banner at the Plaza on 5 January.  With your support, we are confident that we can celebrate our TP Spirit and Identity and make Team Temasek Day a success.

Best Regards,

Kennieth Chan

Student Development Officer

---------------------------

Seniors, you heard the man. Time to wear the 'team canoeing' shirts on that day. whoopie. (Whatever happened to our team kayal racing T_T)

Freshies, I've highlighted the little important segment there for you. Either you remember to wear a nice RED shirt on 5th Jan, which is a MONDAY, or, you could hurry down to get your very own errr.... 'limited edition' team temasek shirts.... (first-come-first-serve basis? -_- I wasn't aware those things were meant to be sold.)

So there =D When you see lots of people in red on Monday, now you know its not for Chinese New Year.

---------------------------

And in OTHER news....

Dear Freshies:

Because of us Seniors and Juniors having to train for the SCM (like mad dogs, i might add. Just ask Kok Wei xD), we know we've been neglecting you somewhat...

BUT DON'T FRET. It doesn't mean you get to lie at home and watch Spongebob Squarepants and eat Coffee-and- Potato-Chips (Whoops.) everyday..........

It was pretty heartening to see a couple of you doing pull-ups of your own accord when we didn't give any instructions to. Consequently, though, i didn't really see that particular lovely sight anymore... but i shall give you guys benefit of doubt because I like to think that just because i didn't see it happen, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The fact remains though, that you guys aren't training as hard as you could be this last holiday.

Not to mention.... I know ... what you ate last Christmas.

(and what you are going to eat this new year)

The solution :

We have appointed one of you as an ad-hoc training head to be in charge of all the freshie trainings. To make it clear, it doesn't mean he gets to order you around or scold you guys or such. It means that he will receive the instructions for your trainings from Samantha and Weijie, and relay them, and make sure they are carried out. Is all. Until after the SCM.

And this rather unpleasant task falls to.......... GARY!!

*applause please*

You should receive further instructions soon. Until then, please make sure all of you have his contact, and vice versa.

(i'm sorry i wrote such a length piece just to announce this, but that's just how i am- horribly annoying *innocent smile*)

But the blog just seems so dead.....

So, as a reward for checking so regularly, welcome to a special Webisode parodily -i mean- proudly brought to you by TP Kayak Racing Team:

Be sure to press 'PLAY' before you continue with this post...
(ignore the video, i did that on purpose. you just need the audio)
BROKEBACK - COMPRESSION -KAYAKERS
(i SWEAR this was COACH'S idea...)

Starring: -Damien Koh
-Guy Whose Name i Don't Know
-Weijie
-Sam
-Josh
-A Random Monkey (Yes, i mean a REAL one.)

Storyline: -Coach
-Josh

After a long, hard, tiring day of rowing..... he feels his muscles starting to ache....

The sore feeling numbs him over. He looks like he's going to cap and die anytime...

The fatigue threatens to overwhelm.... his Jantex suddenly feels like a huge lump of weight which even his grossly oversized muscles can barely cope with...

But the sight of a friendly face among the crowd

Brought a huge, wide grin to our hero's face. (are you playing the song? if you haven't, scroll up and click 'play' NOW.)

And suddenly his strength is restored, renewed.

[Coz you know I'll Row a thousand metres if i could just..... see.... you....... tonight.....]

And thus our hero presses forth with renewed vigor.

But wait. Who is this mysterious empowering 'you'?

Could it be...... SAM the GLAM?

(Oh, you flatter me.)

Damien: What do YOU think? -_-

Could it be... JOSH?

(Look! I can do the Weijie smile! =D)

Damien: ".......errrr......."

Well then... it just has to be ... WEIJIE!!!(I am using this blur look because Josh stole my smile. Damn him :( )

Damien:" AIYO... of course not lah!!!!"

Weijie: *unspeakably hurt expression*

Oh my. Just look at the agony on his face. Hell hath no fury like the Captain scorned.

Back to the story....

----*Cut to a seemingly endless grassy plain*---

*The soft sound of water slapping against the rock*

*Whispered mutterings and sweet nothings which actually went here but i removed for the sake of the other guy who i don't know O_Oll)*

?????:"... So......."

Damien:".... So..."

?????:"wanna make out?

Damien: "Yea man, its time! =D "

*fade to black*

*rustle of clothing*

Damien: "I'll just leave our clothes here. I'm sure nobody will take them. Who'll even come by here anyway?"

(OK, SO IT WAS A MAGIC BUSH WHICH TRANSFORMED THE COMPRESSION SUITS INTO OUR TEAM SINGLETS, ok? =_=)

Who'll come by?

Well, by a twist of fate....

A Random Monkey..... and Josh.

(the monkey ran away in horror)

TO BE CONTINUED....

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Ok, your friendly blog mod Kiiro would like to request that everybody just stop it. Its beyond bad sportsmanship, and veering towards childishness. In closing, i'll just clarify that i don't believe that the majority of medal winners would have an attitude which allows them to post nonsense like that, so i'll end with a friendly reminder...
Anyone who's still upset may look for me to argue... i used to play dota on bnet, the land of noobheads who have more fun arguing that playing. (i suppose why they get owned so much) and should i ever wish to argue, i'll get in 10 sentences before you have time to type 2. But what's the point really... you'll just be making fools out of both of us.

Just Stop taking it out on the tagboard.

Back to business... this is long overdue..... =O

Getting to know TPKRT: Episode 12 (Season Finale): Randall Tan
Omg, kyaaa!!! So Shuai!!!
Of course. I'm in 'Hey Gorgeous' ok!
...
Ok, i shall stop poking fun at Randall.
But he really is in "Hey Gorgeous", so be sure to vote vote vote for him xD

Ok..... you guys probably known Randall as 'The Pull Ups Guy" for his effortless display of 10 pull ups during your orientation day...
And then he came down, then went up again and demonstrated another 10 more effortlessly.

......And then up again to demonstrate how to do 10 wide-grip ones.

But you know, Randall, like the rest of us mortals, wasn't.....always... that fit.
See.
But just look at him now
Mfft. He probably didn't want the girls to see him and faint. How thoughtful he is.
he's not available, though, ladies, because he already has somebody he cares about very much.

(woohoo.)

Ok, seriously speaking, at the start Randall wasn't the fastest of people on the team... in fact, coach barely noticed him. (And pronounced his name as Brendan. He still does occasionally, actually o_O )

But slowly it became evident that Randall, while not amazingly fast, isn't slow in the slightest at all. He kept maintaining his position- right in the middle.

His rowing technique is nice to watch too- very long, smooth, steady strokes. Probably attributed to the Kajner 6 paddle he uses. Its the biggest blade we have on any of our paddles (and the only thing which can slow down my helicopter frequency so far. I love that paddle)

He's also much smarter than he looks. While he may, at times appear 'blur until cute', so to speak, he's one of the few who actually has his training schedule planned our far in advance. Pull ups for instance.

Before he injured his back during round ubin, we were 'pull-up buddies' (har-har. ) He told me about his training plan for pull ups to eventually do 10 sets of 10.
(my eyes went spinning.)
Pretty remarkable for someone who couldn't even manage one, 6 months ago.

[Well, although he was slower than the rest of us in getting his abs, they showed up at last a few weeks ago... haha. Happy Randall.]

He also happens to be forever cheerful... you'll see just by being around him.
o_O a little TOO cheerful...

He's also the proud owner of an extremely cool set of wheels. His very own motor............
......bike? o_O"
Well, all the riding is probably the reason why he has easily the best and most... um..... unique skills when it comes to cycling. Well of course we have our own skills, do you think we all just kayak? xD Bryan can skate, Kok Wei plays basketball, Randall cycles... oh well, you'll find out slowly what our special skills are =D
Yes, he can not only do handsfree (which is not a big deal), he can run and even ROW. @_@
Ask him how it works. I wouldn't know. Hahaha
Well, if there is ONE thing to criticize about Randall.... I'd say....
Its....
His amazingly funny/hilarious
FASHION SENSE!! xD
... don't kill me. =x
Well... All i can say is, you'll have noticed that in all the pics, Randall is always smiling. or least, he doesn't frown. As a teammate to us and senior to you, take it from us that Randall is one of the most amiable and friendly guys you'll ever meet.

Appreciate his existence, because if you ever need a friend, he will be there for you. (also available as a lunch-time pull up buddy. =D)

And oh, yes.... you must be wondering... why he looks like a model? Show me the unglamzzz!!!

Well, i can't you the most interesting ones, because i know that somebody will kill me if i do...

But... just so you know...
Randall...
Does have his unglam moments too xD
Blur coc! =D

And... CENTRE PARTING.
Hahaha... ok... i better go before i die.

Wheee.

Special message: Well, that was the end of season one of 'Getting to Know TPKRT'. You probably know all of us by now...

Or do you?

Not everything i know about each individual on our team, i posted.

And to assume that i know everything about each person...?

To truly get to know a person takes time. While you want to know more about us, we want to know more about you too, because we are beyond a team- TPKRT is a family.

We can only afford this, however, because of our small size. Hence, only the best can remain.

I am not just talking about rowing skills and physical strength. In time, you will find out what i mean.

There will of course be a season 2. But will you be the one to write it...?

[a new programme will be replacing 'Getting to Know TPKRT'. Watch this space. (i am such the typical media student lawl.]
