Today is a very very important day.
30 January 2009
To remember and reflect on how... ...

KOK WEI LOST A SPRINT SET TO SAMANTHA!!!!!!!!

Whoohoo! Truly a time to celebrate. I've never felt as exhilarated and excited over a win before. Gosh. Kok Wei, you gotta keep the side of your bet eh. *SHHHHHHH* Go ask him if you want to know what that means.

Signing off,
Sam the conquerer.

P.S. next person to win is Bryan. So who's gonna cheer me on? :D

Tomorrow's training is optional seeing that most of you cant make it. *must be the festive season* However Friday's training is COMPULSORY. Even if you end class at 6pm, you're expected to be down for training because Saturday is off, most likely either visiting each other or hanging out.

If you cant make time for training, Kayak Racing doesnt have space for you.

Sam

P.S. HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!! :D

About that last post...

Due to a lot of people not being able to make it due to their own personal celebrations and all...

We will bring our gathering back to Saturday, 31st Jan 2009.

Keep it free or i will shoot you. ^_^

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, TEAM.

(try not to get too fat...)

(but even if you DO....)

(We've got some... 'help' planned for you. xD )

Anyway, our team is going to hold a REUNION gathering, for all Ex- TPCT / TPKRT teammates.

1st batch
Jinmin, Weijie, Samantha, Damien, Yolanda, Chrystal, Wen Hao, Peng Ghee (and a few others who left before we entered, i do not know...)

2nd batch
Arun, Cynthia, Zion, Bryan, Dion, Josh, Kok Wei, Randall (And i would like to include Hafiz, only that he doesn't celebrate CNY...)

3rd batch
Qing Ling, Janice, Choon Teck, Te Kai, Zhi Kai, Timothy, Kiew Yuan, Gary, Irene. (Coach's special students who train with us are welcome too.)

And of course, Coach himself.

Ok, this might seem like a lot of people, and i'm still puzzling over where and how we're going to cram all of us into one place...

But its most likely to be next tuesday, 27th Jan, unless too many people cannot make it, in which case i will change the date.

You can help me out by messaging me (or finding SOME way of letting me know, i'm sure you can.) whether or not you can make it, from what time till what time.

For now, it looks kind of like this.

Venue: Sakae Sushi (Hopefully not the one at Changi airport) [We all sit at the really long table]
Time: Lunch buffet, should start before 2
Programme: Lunch! Then we'll see what a huge group of people can find to do that is fun.

I'm secretly banking on the possibility that not everybody invited is going to turn up. But that doesn't mean  you can get out of this just cuz' you have some other reason other than being busy. ^_^

Anyway, just get back to me soon on this. Ciaossu!

Singapore Canoe Marathon 2009

Firstly, a big THANKS to our Team Manager and his Two Helpers!
(Without whom we wouldn't have made it smoothly through the SCM.)

Well, They doubled as extremely good photographers too, catching really heated moments when we all pulled into the portage one after another, here are some samples, i will upload the rest onto photobucket later...

(go go K-2!)
(He looks like carrying handbag, for some reason)

(and he... looks like an anime pose)

AH HA- The pics show that Weijie went to the feeding late every round. o_O

And what's with Randall's cool pose? Stay tuned to find out.

Well, I hope you guys didn't get too bored sitting there... But it looks to me that you were... uh... well equipped to handle the boredom.
With a little picnic...
And a little camwhoring... ahah cute pink hat rangers.

And of course, not to forget our MEDAL WINNERS

(a mysteriously prophetic picture....)
[8th place, Bryan Loy]
[Runner Up, Dionysius Chia]
(And a stylish Entry)
[3rd Place, Samantha See]

And.... this is just how many 'Kids' Coach has, caught together on film for the first time.
(Big.... Family... o_O)

Congratulations to our Medal winners, for doing us proud.
The rest of us, we may not have won anything, but look how much stronger the experience has made us. All of us guys can now row on par with Coach!

And Bryan, who's only been rowing K-1 since after the RP Invits, beat me in a 200m sprint, with Randall not too far behind. Omghax. o_O

Anyway, disappointed, of course we are, if we didn't win anything. But it is experiences like these from which we learn, and are inspired by. The thought of 'I could have trained just that bit harder' is what will push us to train harder for the NEXT competition. So, be disappointed all you want, but never be disheartened.

We are going to own The NEXT ONE!! =D

Ready Steady Pom Pii Pii!!!       "

Team, for all Saturdays it'll start at 11am from 17th jan onwards. Dont need to bring shoes for weekend training. Running should have been completed over the weekdays.

This week for training food and drinks:
Bread-Bryan, Janice (1 loaf each)
Biscuits-Randall,Dion

I expect full attendance for Snrs and Jnrs.
Freshies, your attendance has been horrible of late. For those that I do not see coming as often, you may not have to turn up anymore pretty soon...

Sam
Optional Training tomorrow, 4.30pm at the club.

Those who have lessons, come after that.

As usual, bring your shoes.

("Optional" means something different to everyone. To me, its one more opportunity to train. To improve. What do you hear it as?)

a Big CONGRATULATIONS to our....
Men's Novice K-1, 8th position - Bryan

Men's Novice K-1, Runner up - Dion

And we apologize for not knowing how many other medals we have, because of the screwed-uppyness of the Singapore Canoe Federation. Maybe they should try revising their organizing strategy. Might i suggest a Diploma in Events Management?

But i digress. Everybody who went to row today is a champion =) Good job everybody.

And a special thank you to Choon Teck, Qing Ling and Te Kai For coming down to help out at the portage area today. I know the rest of you would have wanted to come too, but couldn't make it because of your one star, right? If you didn't have one-star course on today you wouldhave come too, riiiight? ^_^ (Say yes or i keel you.)

I think it is a testament to Coach today, that so many of the medals were won by his students. That includes SAJC, who really took many many medals earlier.

You should have been there to see his smile.

Speaking of coach, he's decided that we're going to be doing running training everyday. Any of you freshies who want to join us, it's 8.6km a day. Woohoo.

Otherwise.... since SCM marks the end of our extremely long 3-month long competition season, you guys can now look forward to land training again (whoop-dee-doo) and, of course, swimming training. =D

Lastly.... on a more serious note, selections are coming up soon. You need to know that, as mentioned very long ago, not everybody can stay. Coach will be conducting selections to keep only a handful out of you guys. Only the best can remain, and i'd like to stress that its not just how fast you can row, or how quick you get on a K-1, crap like that.

We've already experienced that the fastest to learn are not always the best. And the slowest to bloom can be the most dangerous. Nothing is certain.

Except for one thing - Don't expect to stay in this team if your attitude is shit, in any sense of the word. Even if your skills are up to par by coach's standards, If i don't like your attitude, I will do anything i can to make your life on the team hell. And I can do a great many things, I'm pretty resourceful. And I'm sure my awesome partner will be pretty eager to help. We're great at teamwork that way.

I swear you will end up leaving by yourself, if that happens.

Luckily, though, I am also very friendly ^_^

Would this face lie to you? =)

Anyway, my point.

I'm watching some of you. Its probably not to late to reflect now, you still have some time.

But when we say its too late, it WILL be too late.

Cheerios! ^_^

A post on SCM will be done when I get my hands on some of the photos...

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Hello hellooo! Training this week is much lesser in view of the upcoming marathon. It'll only be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 4 30pm.

I have strict orders from coach to tell you all that the rest of the days are for you all to rest and not strain your muscles in any way.

Saturday we will be moving boats over at 9am. So we will pack everything Friday evening 5pm. All Sns and Jnrs are to be there unless you have class. We will be testing water at kallang after that and doing a few portages. Nothing heavt though.

Choon Teck is going for the team managers briefing on thursday 7 30pm. Can anyone volunteer to accompany him to kallang. Preferably a junior. If not Freshie would be fine.

Final briefing will be conducted either on friday or sat.

and dont worry about not having enough boats...apprently coach says we do have enough and he's going to fix the damaged ones tomorrow.
