Ok guys, i put up the banner....

Hope you like it. I know there are a couple of errors here and there... that's actually because my mouse at home sucks -_- should have done it in school...but anyway, i know i left out some people, but if i kept waiting for your photos, i'd never have gotten the banner up. you can still send me your photos, though, if you want, so that i can slot them in when i retouch the banner.

Tomorrow, Coach will be down at reservoir the whole day, i will be going to join him before land training. Anybody who wishes to join me can come down too.

But just remember that we still have land training after that.

As for the banner, i'll clean it up when i have time, because now its- OMG 1:21 am o_O

Time to start on my projects.

Till tomorrow!

Cheers to our Seniors for completing 2 days of strenous competitions. Even with a year of experience ahead of us, you guys may have noticed that even they had attacks of nerves during the actual competition. That speaks volumes about our current standard, doesn't it? =/

Anyway Seniors, good job =D Although we didn't really make a big splash during this competition, when you think about the fact that it was at the National level, and we got to see all the monsters like that girl with arms that looked like Damien...... o_____O

Overall, we think you all did great, and there's always a next time, right? =D

Right. So don't feel so down. (especially Damien)

Hard not to feel down when you're at the bottom of a 3-man-pileup though, innit? =/

And Sam, you better get that arm fixed before you tell me to get my back fixed lol. xP

Special thanks to Juniors, for coming down on sat, and bringing bread and drinks and stuff

Especially Randall my fellow reliable team manager who covered in for me when i spaced out and forgot to report for some events. =S

Aaron, for coming back again with the bananas (banana sandwich lawl.) and drinks, and for staying behind specially to help us bring the boats back to bedok. (i know the weights were heavy. =/ )

Weijie and Sam, who took care of the whole thing by themselves with a little help from us, when coach is not around...

and...

Jinmin, for lending me his Team Temasek Shirt (damn shiok to wear. xD Can't wait to get ours)

------------------------

Ok for the Juniors...

You may have noticed that last Monday's swimming turnout wasn't very good.

...

Ok who am i kidding- it was actually rather pathetic, with a total strength of... 6 people.

I'm not sure whether it is because some of you guys forgot that swimming has been changed to Monday or not, but just in case that was the case....

Swimming training is tomorrow and every Monday from now onwards, at 7.30pm.

Don't forget your FLOATS and GOGGLES (you shouldnt by now, really.)

I may sound a little stuffy on this issue, but personally i feel that its actually -to be frank- quite stupid if you miss a training because you forgot that the timing has been changed.

And since Sam has made it clear some time ago that attendance is going to be quite important, not for our sake, but because you'll find that you fall behind the others quite alot if you miss even a couple of sessions, i'm not going to preach on attendance and stuff.

But please , seriously, let us have a better attendance tomorrow, ok guys? :D

JK

From this thursday onwards,
those who wish to rent and train with Junior K may do so,

Once coach's satisfied that we can row properly alone,
he will allow us to rent the boats and canoe JK whenever we want
except during some specific timings during the week and during competition periods
(otherwise we can only rent during the training period/days)

1 session = $10
4 sessions and above in one mth = flat rate of $35.

Paid at the start or end of the month (TBC).

P.S. Good luck to the seniors of TPCT for tmr's competition =)

- dion

(18th july 10.32pm)
Competition Schedule updated. look below.

Sam would like to remind everyone to wear RED shirts or shirts with the Temasek logo on it, but i'd personally like to everybody to wear red even if you don't have a Temasek shirt, because it makes us easier to spot out of the crowd, and it shows..unity. ;D

For Juniors, please report at 9am, at MacRitchie reservoir especially for those bringing F&B.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

By the way, WeiJie would like me to inform the Juniors that those who end early tomorrow can go down to row at 2 - Coach will be there.

(But i wont...lessons T_T )

And i would like me to inform you that if you don't send me your pic soon, i'll just put up what i have right now, because those starfishes DO look really gay.

For the seniors! (and the Juniors, too, because we're going down as well on Caturday.... i mean, *Saturday and Sunday)

Just some information about the upcoming NCC this weekend...

-The events are as follows (Schedule is very incomplete, because the full schedule will only be up by 2pm tmr. i will update when it does, but roughly this is how it goes)

Saturday

1)10,000m
2)1000m
3)200m

Sunday

1)500m [heats]
2)500m [Semi Finals]
3)500m [Finals]
4)200m [Semi Finals]

Things to note:

- The 10km event on Saturday is the first race for the day. All paddlers involved must report BY 0830hrs for a briefing. Any last minute training in the reservoir must cease by 0840 hrs latest.

-for Male K1 category, there are 26 paddlers for one of the events (200m, if i remember correctly. Again, i will reconfirm when the schedule is out, because it was flashed very fast and we couldn't copy everything down) Therefore, there will be multiple sets of heats, and a B finals.

-All participants must be one star certified. (not a problem.)

-Automatic disqualification will follow if any participant is found to represent more than 1 organization. (Not a problem either. I think Damien will chase after you with a paddle if you ever 'two-time' tpct. =D )

-Participants are expected to know what to do by themselves in the event of a capsize. (you can take this to mean that nobody's gonna come rescue you if you go 'sploosh' ... )

-10km route looks like this.

Yes, i know it looks horrible, but it was very hastily drawn. At least i didn't use bunnies.
For those who can't understand... start at the starting point. Follow the pink trail for 5 rounds, going around the black buoys (which are essentially just the normal buoys which have been wrapped with trash bags)
come back from lane 6, go out again from lane 1
Finish at the starting line.
Any further updates will be posted tomorrow along with the schedule.

Fitness Bulletin

As a canoeist, physical prowess will, and must be one of your main priorities.

Many people including some members of our team believe that fitness cannot be improved or maintained when you have a lack of time. This is a myth I wish to abolish.

With as little as fifteen minutes a day, you can improve your fitness level dramatically, especially if you're a novice to performance training. The key is Intensity.

For rowers like us, our priority should be our core muscle groups, back muscles, shoulders and arms. Neither should be neglected, and a strong pair of legs to support them. Therefore if you do not have time to row for a certain day, or go running or hit the gym, you can perform these two exercises (even at home).

One arm standing row. (Use a resistance band or any substitute and tie it to anything which won't give way, around your waist level. Stand in front of it. Put your right (left for left side) leg behind and keep your back straight. Proceed to pull the band with the right hand all the way past your hip and return to starting position. Do it quick, and use your core to bring the band as far past your hip as possible. Other hand will be free. That's one rep.)

Bodyweight squat. (Simply stand and keep your back straight, lower yourself down until thighs are parallel to the floor and then return to starting position. Do until failure (unable to finish last rep), rest then attempt another set.

Attempt up till five sets for these two exercises if possible. Reps you adjust to your level. Remember, intensity is the key, do it quick and properly.

It looks something like this right about now. Of course, i'm not even halfway done with it yet, but just to give you a rough idea what i need your photos for. (I had to search friendster for some of them -_- )

Why i'm not using a team photo is simple

-The blog is for ourselves, its more flattering to see ourselves individually as part of a team.

-How will we get  team photo? o_O Has there been one training for the past few weeks where everybody turned up?

But i wanna photo of coach too xD Anybody dares to try?

Hey Juniors,

Just in case you didn't check your e-mails, Weijie forwarded us this message from Kenn, our SDO...

"Hi All,

In the recent NP AR race mentioned above, TP came in 3rd (Arif and Jason from ELF). There was an unofficial TP team that came in first (still trying to contact them to confirm). Congrats and well done to them!

Here is another adventure race (well sort of) It consist of swim, blade, bike and run. (500m, 10k, 20k and 5k respectively) Think the prize is not bad judging by the value of the goodie bag ($80). You guys qualify for the youth category, $90 for a team of two (under 21yrs). Its on the 12 Oct, 7.30am Changi Beach Park. Lots of time to train, so what are you waiting for?!. You can get more info at http://www.safra.sg/quadthlon2008.aspx?pageid=3588

Please disseminate to your team members and ask them to email me directly quickly as the early bird entry is until 13 July.

Juniors...

For those who didn't come today, tomorrow's water training has been changed to...
9AM! =)
Oh, and bring your running shoes. I presume that instruction means that we are going to be running tomorrow.....
Kiiro
Training for both juniors and seniors alike will be 12pm this Saturday, 4th July. I expect full attendance since its a Saturday. Girls especially, your turn up has been especially weak yea. Please encourage each other to turn up for trainings.

Juniors, apparently some of you are interested in getting a team singlet and jacket. I should think that it would not be necessary for you all to do so as we are currently in discussion with TYR for sponsorship so we don't have to pay a cent for our team attire. Only thing is Wei Jie and I would need to discuss about what exactly would we want to get them to sponsor for us as each person has a budget of around $80.

For example: Kenn gives us the green light to go down to TYR with a budget of $80/person. So as a team we can purchase anything we want e.g. tights, rashguard, singlet, polo shirt. We can get as many items until everything reaches $80.

e.g. Tights- $30
Singlet-$20
Polo Shirt- $30
Total-$80

Of course I cant promise that we'll be getting the following until further meetings. So hold your horses. Dont go spending unnecessary money when we can get stuff from the school. :)

As for jackets, the seniors already have Team Temasek jackets. ALSO FREE. The catch is that only those that have represented the school in competitions would be given the jacket. So who wants the jacket?! PADDLE HARD AND REPRESENT TP then I can issue it to you.

Next, we will need juniors to help us in the transportation of boats and paddle sometime around the week of 14 July to MacRitchie. Damien is gonna liase with the truck uncle and SCF so he'll give further instructions next week. For those that end school early please volunteer your services. Thanks.

Sam
Schedule amendment for Juniors...

Swimming has been changed to MONDAY, and most probably will be on Monday from now on.
That means, no swimming tomorrow. =)
Other updates...
-The Sunday Outing to the Waterventure Open House at Sembawang has been cancelled because of....poor attendance. =/
- A couple of us went to queensway to scout around a while back.
The prices for the team outfits are as follows...
Team Singlet - Roughly $14- 18 PER PIECE.
Team Jacket - Roughly $30
While we haven't actually factored in the cost of putting our names on the things as well (we will need a soft copy of the actual design to get that price) , we haven't factored in the student price which we will be given either. (we will also need a soft copy of the design for that.)
Those came for training today were okay with the price and felt that a team jacket will be nicer to have first, so now, we are left with 3 issues:
1) Whether the seniors want the singlet/jacket or not, because we kinda counted you guys in too =D
2) Those that didn't come for the discussion today, whether you find the price okay.
3) We need a designer to actually do the design, then have Weijie give it the 'ok'! (we trust Weijie's judgement xD )
The last one is of course the most important of all, so.....any designer volunteers? =)

Juniors!

Training schedule for this week finalized.... for your reference:

Thursday- Water Training, 4pm
Friday- Water Training, 4pm & Swimming, 7pm
Saturday- Water Training, 12 noon

Coach didn't mention exact timing, but i'm assuming that we're sticking to the usual times, so yea.

And this goes out to everyone, especially Dion....

Please BRING YOUR SHOES for every single training, even water training, because you never know when we'll need it. (Remember that fun incident where we ran one round in slippers/sandals/crocs? yea. ;D )

And most probably our swimming will be shifted to Monday instead of friday because.... well if you look at the schedule up there it should be quite obvious why. Guess coach doesn't want us to come for Saturday training looking like Zombies....

Ok, cya guys. Yohohohohoho....
